Laser Gum Therapy

The soft tissue laser can be utilized in many different ways. Laser Gum Therapy can be used to improve the form and function of your teeth and gums, and it can also be used to cosmetically enhance the amount of gum tissue some patients show when smiling.

For periodontal or poor health conditions, the laser is used to remove tissue that traps bacteria around the teeth. Additionally, many oral lesions or ulcers can be treated with the laser in order to eliminate pain and speed recovery.

Cosmetically, many individuals suffer from showing excessive or uneven amounts of gum tissue when they smile. Sometimes this is called a “gummy smile”. Genetics, medications and poor oral health are factors that may cause an overgrowth of gum tissue. Laser Gum Therapy can reshape the position and architecture of the gum tissue.

In either case, with little or no anesthetic, the laser literally vaporizes the unwanted tissue. Patients can return to their work and regular activities immediately.
